‘Michelle Obama, a fashion icon?’ you might ask. Well The Council of Fashion Designers of America seems to think so. The CFDA Fashion Awards (also known as the Oscars of the fashion world) were held on Tuesday, 15th June, and Michelle Obama was awarded with the Board of Directors Special Tribute. “Her meteoric rise in the world of fashion has echoed her husband in the world of politics,” said council President Diane von Furstenberg.

“This past year has been an extraordinary time for me,” Obama said in a taped message yesterday that was played at the awards gala. “On behalf of women everywhere, I want to thank you for making fashion liberating, inspiring, but most of all, fun.”

I have to admit I particularly enjoy seeing Michelle’s different looks. I love that she doesn’t listen to the fashion critics and follows her individual style. Her style is fastly progressing in a positive light and reflects her personality more and more. Fashion-wise, she never fails to compliment her lovely figure. What she wears, I find, always exudes confidence, style and elegance. There’s a reason, why she’s called the First Lady of Fashion after all. Beautiful, intelligent, one of the handful of leaders in fashion and married to THE most charming US president since John F. Kennedy. Who says, you can’t have it all?
